The 2022 Christmas party season is already well underway. But the biggest dates on the festive calendar are yet to come. And there’s snow time like National Sangria Day, on 20th December, to take a look at some of the most lip-smacking national drinks from around the world.
After all, there nothing like a selection of internationally inspired tipples for celebrating the season in style and adding some sparkle to your festivities.
Here’s a selection of Team La Academia’s favourite national drinks to make your spirits bright.
National Drinks Yule be Delighted with!
Aperol Spritz from Italy – Savour a taste of summer on a winter’s night, with this bittersweet Aperol, prosecco and soda combo. Add a generous glug of limoncello to really uplevel the spirit of Christmas.
Caipirinha from Brazil – A simple muddle of cachaça, lime and sugar is all it takes to revel in a refreshing caipirinha. Fancy a twist? Add passion fruit for a full-bodied mellowness.
Piña Colada from Puerto Rico – Temptingly tropical white rum. Tangy pineapple. Lashings of rich coconut cream. Serve with an umbrella for ‘80s Christmas kitsch!
Margarita from Mexico – Give this tequila, triple sec and lime number an extra kick by salt-encrusting the rims of your glasses. Or make it more seasonal with clementines and cranberries instead of limes.
Sangria from Spain – Last but not least, the national drink of Spain that’s celebrated on 20th December. Compliment the red wine, Spanish brandy and sparkling water with lots of festive spices and dried fruits, besides the usual citrus fruit slices. The result – a mince pie in a glass.
At La Academia, we wish you a merry little Christmas and look forward to accompanying you on your language learning journeys in 2023. Get in touch for a chat about the best learning path for you. But in the meantime… Saluti! Saude! Salud!
